Have you ever wanted to learn to rest not to quit? I have done so many presentations and workshops on the subject. Some of the material has worked, some of it hasn't. Here's what I've learned. First, it is easier to quit when you're tired. So learn to get more shut-eye. If you are a morning person, try to stay up later. In the afternoon, do afternoon naps. Get up in the evening and work through most of your sleep. Even though it may feel like you can never learn to quit, it makes quitting much easier. Second, avoid food that gets you awake. You don't need to avoid carbs. Most carbs are converted into sugar, which turns into fat if you eat too much. Third, keep hydrated. This means drinking plenty of water. Also, avoid alcohol. There is too much research out there on the dangers of alcohol to sleep. Fourth, do something before Bed Reading is good for you. Find something enjoyable to do. And then meditate or pray.
